Allen Hurst

Allen Hurst, 95, of Rushville, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at his home.

He was born on September 23, 1931, to Frances Hurst and Ruby (Willey) Harding. On September 22, 1956, he married Jerry May (Beaver), and she preceded him in death on November 13, 2023.

Allen is survived by his daughter, Deborah Hurst Fudge and husband, Tony, of Rushville; son, Dale Hurst of Blue Ridge; brothers, Hugh W. Garner of Shelbyville, and Duane F. Hurst of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren, Kendall Manlief, Michael Fudge, Shaun Fudge and Maggie Fudge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to Jerry, Allen was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sharon Coffey.

Allen graduated from Manilla High School in 1949.

He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Allen was a lifelong farmer, he also owned and operated Allen Hurst Trucking, retiring in 2018.

He was formerly a member of the American Legion and the Rushville Elks Club.

Allen and Jerry loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, October 22, 2026 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville, Indiana.

Funeral services will be at 10 am, Friday, October 23, 2026, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Manilla Cemetery.
