Anna Marie Anewalt, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away on March 2, 2026, at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis.
She was born on April 23, 1943, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the daughter of Harold Neal and Eleanor (Balderson) Wilson. On June 18, 1967, she married her husband of 58 years, David Gover Anewalt, and he survives.
In addition to David, Anna Marie is survived by her daughters, Susan Marie Anewalt of Franklin, and Michelle Lynn Ricketts and husband, Derek, of Shelbyville; brothers, Fred Wilson and wife, Judy, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Dan Wilson and wife, Kay of Grove City, Ohio; granddaughters, Hayden Michelle Ricketts and Darien Alise Ricketts; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Anna Marie was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, and received her Bachelor’s degree from Marshall University in West Virginia and her Master’s degree from West Virginia University. She was formerly an elementary school teacher.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Director of the Bell Choir.
Anna Marie was a state member of the PEO Sisterhood and a Girl Scout Leader. Anna Marie volunteered at the Shelby Senior Services and Meals on Wheels.
A Gathering of Friends will be from Noon to 2 pm, Friday, March 6, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church, 34 West Washington Street, in Shelbyville, with a Memorial Service following at 2 pm, Pastor Leah Kim will officiate.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
