Arzelia Helen Cochran

Arzelia Helen Cochran, 90, of Shoals, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, at Indiana University Health in Bloomington.

She was born May 3, 1932, in Indianapolis, the daughter of William Henry and Nancy (Morning) Ryan.  On April 27, 1963, she married Gerald Cochran, and he preceded her in death on May 13, 2000.

Arzelia is survived by her sons, David Chasteen and wife, Linda, of Fairland, and Richard Nixon and wife, Rita, of Shoals; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to Gerald, Arzelia was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Chasteen; brothers, Richard Ryan, Lawrence Ryan and Eugene Ryan; and sisters, Rebecca Campbell, Nettie Seibenthal and Eunice Dunagan.

Arzelia was formerly a secretary in the health care field.

She was of the Christian faith.

Arzelia loved to play bingo.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023, at Patterson Cemetery in Shelby County.

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
