Beverly J. Lane

March 8, 1938 — December 23, 2020

Beverly J. Lane, 82, of Shelbyville peacefully passed into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at her home. She was born March 8, 1938, in Shelby County, the daughter of Cecil and Edith (Wells) Henderson. On April 7, 1956, she married her husband and best friend of 64 years, Robert J. “Bob” Lane, and he survives. In addition to Bob, Beverly is survived by her sons, Bob Lane Jr. and wife, Melanie, of Woodridge, Illinois, John Lane and wife, Lynda, and Dave Lane and wife, Brenda, both of Shelbyville; daughters, Connie (Lane) Emsweller and husband, Richard, of Greensburg, and Tammy Moss and husband, Bryan, of Shelbyville; sister, Sherrie Thomas of Florida; grandchildren, Derek, Ryan, Amanda, Kayla, Jon, Matthew, Nathaniel, Megan, Kristen, Erika, Eryn, Tucker, Jocelyn and Lillian; 16 great-grandchildren and two on the way; and many nieces and nephews. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Henderson; sister, Karen Siefert; granddaughter, Brittany; and great-grandson, Gibson. She graduated in 1956 from Fairland High School. Beverly was a member of Evangelical Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school and lead youth groups. She also helped with church camp. She was the head of the dish room at Shelbyville High School for over 20 years. Beverly was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family. Beverly’s goal in life was, “To be the best Christian she could be and help everyone she knew find the Lord.” Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Evangelical Methodist Church, 267 E. Washington St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the church, with Pastor Tony Meads and Jim Coulston officiating. Interment will be at Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Evangelical Methodist Church or the donor’s choice of charity. Online condolences may be shared with Beverly’s family at www.freemanfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
