Bradley E. Schultz

Bradley E. Schultz, 61, went home to the eternal presence of God on Monday, April 24, 2023, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a devoted husband and father, but most importantly a baptized child of God who enthusiastically sought to serve Him in word and deed, most recently as the pastor of Zion Evangelical Church in Shelbyville, Indiana.

Dr. Schultz was called into ministry later in life after careers in television and college teaching. God used these experiences to shape and prepare him for service for the kingdom. He was proud of his work with the Acts 1:8 Mission Society in St. Louis, which showed him the need of bringing the hope of the Gospel to the hurting, broken and needy. He used these experiences to help shape the ministries at Zion, including a monthly meal for those in need, a regular service to help those in the community with laundry needs, weekly jail ministry, a television program that aired in Indianapolis to spread the Gospel, and regular work with a local faith-based drug and alcohol recovery group. Brad strongly believed in taking the love of Christ outside of the church walls and into the community, and was very active in preaching and teaching at veterans and nursing homes.

Brad met many wonderful, faithful people in his earthly journey, and he looks forward to welcoming them one day into heaven. Before his death, his heart was especially heavy at the thought of separation from his beloved wife and helpmate of 34+ years, Darlene (Wilson), and his children Emily McCauley (Peter) and Colin. Other survivors include his brother and spiritual mentor Jeff Schultz (Amelia), brother Steve Schultz (Lisa), step-mother Heidi Schultz, sisters-in-law Charlene McKean (Raymond), Donna Butler (Richard), Janice Emerson (Greg), brothers-in-law Jerry Wilson (Rae Ann) and Larry Wilson (Martelle), along with 16 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville and from 11 a.m. to Noon, Friday, April 28, 2023, at Zion Evangelical Church, 7025 E 100 North, Shelbyville.

The funeral will take place at Noon on Friday, at the church, with Pastor Jeff Schultz officiating.
