Carl Wayne Crisman, 66, of Waldron, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at his home.
He was born May 19, 1957, in Shelbyville, the son of Wayne and Juanita (Stevens) Crisman. On April 19, 2003, he married Angie Kendall, and she survives.
In addition to Angie, Carl is survived by his mother of Greenfield; children, Joshua Wayne Crisman and wife, Kaleigh, of Morristown, Amanda Nicole Walkup and significant other, Tristan Ginn, of Brownsburg, Mindra Wise of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Adam Wise and wife, Paige, of Shelbyville; brothers, Steve Crisman of Manilla, James Crisman and wife, Rhonda, Scott Crisman, Jeff Crisman, and Darren Crisman and wife, Jana, all of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Grace Wise, Joshua Crisman, Reese Walkup, Collin Crisman, Robert Crisman, Lillian Wise, Aleksander Crisman and Liam Crisman; and many nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Todd Crisman.
Carl attended Waldron High School and transferred during his senior year to Rushville Consolidated High School, graduating in 1975.
He was a police officer for the Shelbyville Police Department from 1981 to 1996; and was currently working for the Indiana Department of Transportation since 1997.
Carl was a member of the Shelby Masonic Lodge No. 28 F&AM since 1988 and was the president of the Shelby County Shrine Club in 2012 and 2013. He joined the Scottish Rite in 1990, and Murat Shrine in 2004. He was also a member of the Shelby County Fraternal Order of Police, serving as president from 1989 to 1990.
He was a lover of animals whether it be cats, dogs, more dogs or horses, you knew they would be well taken care of for their entire lives. He also leaves behind his german shepherd, Seger and yorkie, Bentley.
Carl and his beloved wife, Angie, loved to travel and spend time together, they spent many nights dancing in the living room. He also loved good, old fashioned comfort food, practical jokes and most importantly being a good father, step-father and grandfather. His big smile and gentle bantering and an easy going personality made for many life-long friends.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 1pm, Friday, September 8, 2023, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Masonic services will be at 1 pm, Friday, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral service officiated by Rev. Beth Crouch.
Inurnment will be at Van Pelt Cemetery in Shelby County, at a later date.
