Carla J. Markley

Carla J. Markley, 67, of Shelbyville, passed away, Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born April 24, 1956, in Rushville, the daughter of James and Betty Joan (Rouse) Cole.  On July 6, 2003, she married Ronald Markley, and he preceded her in death on November 14, 2017.

Carla is survived by her daughters, Kelli Heagy and husband, Brad, and Keri Southwood, both of Shelbyville, and Kylie Killen of Flat Rock; sister, Cindy Hubbard and husband, Mike, of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Hailey, Macey and Brad; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to Ronald, Carla was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, James “Jim” Cole and David Cole.

Carla attended Morristown High School.

She was a cashier at Walmart, for 16 years.

Carla enjoyed planting and growing flowers and making crafts.

She also enjoyed going fishing and camping.

Carla also leaves behind her owl finch, Ollie.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
