Carroll was a devoted, 83 year member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church where he was baptized at age 11 and later served as a trustee and in other roles. He graduated in 1943 from Mount Auburn High School and was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer. Carroll worked hard to provide for his family and made time to be involved in school & church activities with his children. He helped Marjorie with many home and wood refinishing projects. Upon semi-retiring in 1998, Carroll enjoyed many travels with Erma, Bud & Joan and new friends. He was an avid college and pro basketball fan and loved to talk about the games. Carroll could frequently be seen walking down the road to get his exercise, or riding his John Deere gator to check out the crops and the cows. He enjoyed fried chicken and cherry pie and to “take a short ride” to see the countryside (which often meant stopping for ice cream)!
