Catherine Aldine "Deane" Shelton

Catherine Aldine “Deane” Shelton, 93, of Morristown passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at Wellbrooke of Avon. Deane was born December 5, 1925, in Pursglove, West Virginia, the daughter of Claude S. and Louise (Straight) Phillips. On May 27, 1944, she married Richard Earl Shelton, and he preceded her in death in 2002. She is survived by her sons, John Shelton and wife, Jeanette, of San Diego, California, and Greg Shelton and wife, Karen, of Culver City, California; daughter, Tina Shelton of Frazier Park, California; sister, Patricia Simmons of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Janalee, Jason, Corey, Debbie, Darla, Kevin, Krystle, Karlene, Sage, Heather, Adam, Julieann, Nicki and Paul; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to Richard, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard David “Rick” Shelton; brothers, Claude S. Phillips Jr., Robert L. Phillips and Howard L. Phillips; and a grandson, Michael. Deane was a 1943 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, West Virginia. She was a member of Gwynneville Christian Church. Deane formerly worked as a bank teller, while living in Culver City. She was also a member of Morristown Order of Eastern Star, Red Hat Society, American Legion Auxiliary and a Home Economics Club. While she was a member of Delta Theta Tau she held a national office. Deane enjoyed collecting home décor plates, dolls and antiques. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening and genealogy. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Eastern star services will be at 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gwynneville Christian Church, 7104 E. Mulberry St., Gwynneville, Indiana 46144.
