Catherine I. Thurston

Catherine I. Thurston, 98, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Homeview Health in Franklin. She was born January 31, 1920, in Johnson County, the daughter of Charles and Bessie (Scott) Repp. On March 11, 1951, she married Wayne Dale Thurston, and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2000. Catherine is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald Repp, Charles Repp, Frank Repp and Harry Repp; and sister, Marie Moore. Catherine graduated from Franklin High School in 1939. She was a member of the Bengal Christian Church. Catherine retired from Johnson County REMC in 1982, with 20 years of service. She and her husband, formerly owned and operated the Midway Texaco and Grocery on State Road 44. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating. Interment will be at Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Johnson County.
