Charles D. Bright

Charles D. Bright, 68, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.

He was born August 19, 1955, in New Castle, the son of Noel and Alice (Smith) Bright.  On September 19, 1997, he married his wife of 26 years, Patricia Thorp, and she survives.

In addition to Patty, Charles is survived by his daughters, Breanna Bright, and Mary Bright and fiance’, Caleb White; son, Dana Bright and wife, Donna; step-sons, Brandon Remy and fiance', Christy, and Kaleb Remy and wife, Gretchen; sisters, Becky Walker, and Anna Mae Gifford and husband, Bobby; grandchild, Madison; mother-in-law, Mary Thorp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Hallgarth; brothers, Ronnie Bright and George Bright; and father-in-law, Harold Thorp.

He graduated from Shenandoah High School.

Charles was formerly employed at McCrocklin Ford.

He was a member of Park Chapel Christian Church in Greenfield.

Charles loved to watch NASCAR races.

He enjoyed volunteering at the Anderson Speedway, the Hope House and local food pantries.

Services will be announced by Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
