Bill Huber was born in Fairland, IN; the first of five sons born to Roland O. Huber and Anna Mae (Fisher) Huber.  He attended schools in Fairland, and graduated high school from Indiana Academy in Cicero, IN.  He was drafted as a Conscientious Objector and served proudly in the Army’s Operation White Coat project, stationed at Fort Dietrich, Maryland. He married Martha Lu (Marty) Ehrhart in 1956. They later divorced.

Bill graduated with a bachelor’s degree from La Sierra University in 1965 and was immediately recruited by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a Public Health Advisor. After retirement from the CDC, Bill moved to Naples, FL, and worked for the State of Florida as a Public Health Administrator, where he retired for a second time. 

Bill returned to Shelby County, where he lived his best life for several years.  In 2015, he moved to Cedar City, Utah, to be closer to his daughter.  He died at age 86 after suffering injuries related to a fall. 

He is preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his brothers Jim (Nancy) Huber, Shelbyville, Rex (Kye Ja) Huber, Oxnard, CA , John (Jane) Huber,  Shelbyville, and David Huber, Columbus, IN;  his children Cyndi Wallace (Bruce Baker), Cedar City, UT, and Mark (Sharon) Huber, Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren Joey (Amy) Laspe, Poulsbo, WA,  Alicia (Luke) Perritt, Burpengary, Australia, and Stefan Huber, Chattanooga, TN; 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he loved.

Bill will be buried in the Liberty Cemetery in Shelby County, IN, on Saturday, March 25, 2023, preceded by a family graveside service with military rites conducted by the local military committee.   

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
