Curtis L. Brunner, 68, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at his home.

He was born August 5, 1954, in Anderson, the son of James “Jim” Brunner and Joan R. (Baker) Bond.

Curt is survived by his sisters, Carol Sweeney of Greenfield and Marsha Updegraff and husband, Thomas of Colorado Springs, Colorado; companion, Donna Barrett of Greenfield; step-daughter, Dena Barrett of Greenfield; several grandchildren and close friends, Robby Best, John Gilbert II and John Gilbert III.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Brunner; brother, Kenneth Brunner; and sister, Gail Lloyd.

Curt was formerly a horse jockey for over 25 years at Hawthorn Park and other tracks across the United States.  He also formerly worked for McBane Vault Company.

He attended Saint Michael Catholic Church in Greenfield.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2023 at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.  Friends may gather one half hour prior to the service.

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
