Cynthia “Eliza” Goble, 87, of Morristown, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
She was born July 8, 1938, in Lewisville, the daughter of “Lafe” and Maxine (Jones) Keaton. On June 28, 1958, she married Paul O. Goble, and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2000.
Eliza is survived by her daughters, Paula Goble and husband, Charles Linder, and Elaine Goble Carlton, both of Morristown; son, William Keaton Goble of Greenwood; grandson, Royce Carlton and wife, Kelsey, of Gwynneville; sisters, Judy Goodrich and Patty Hedrick, both of Shelbyville; brother, Lafie Keaton of Michigan; and several nieces, nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to Paul, Eliza was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Simpson and husband, Glenn, and Mary Lenning and husband, Walt.
Eliza was a 1956 graduate of Morristown High School.
She was a member of the Morristown United Methodist Church, Brookville Community Church and Fairview Community Church. Eliza enjoyed volunteering at the many functions of the church.
She formerly managed and cooked at the Kopper Kettle. Eliza retired in the early 2000’s from Marsh, where she worked in the bakery as a cake decorator.
Eliza also enjoyed crafts, baking, tending her flower gardens, reading and sewing.
Eliza and her husband, Paul (longtime coach of the Morristown track and cross country teams) lovingly prepared and served spaghetti dinners to countless runners prior to their championship races.
She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.
Eliza loved to show her support of her grandson by attending nearly all of his sporting events.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm, Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Richwine officiating.
Interment will be at Hanover Cemetery in Shelby County.
