Dale Fair, 81, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville. He was born May 7, 1939, in Shelbyville, the son of Leland M. and Helen (Williams) Fair. On October 26, 1985, he married Elaine K. Harrell, and she survives. In addition to Elaine, Dale is survived by his daughters, Jill Arthur Griggs and husband, Aaron, of Indianapolis, Lori Arthur Scudder and husband, Scott, of Waldron, Sueann Fair Schaffer and husband, Bryan, of South Carolina, and Deloris Fair DeMott and husband, Mike, of Shelbyville; brother, Paul E. Fair and wife, Sandy, of Shelbyville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry G. Fair; and sisters, Joann Heck and Janet Treon. He graduated in 1959 from Shelbyville High School. Dale was a member of the Flat Rock Christian Church. He was formerly a chef at Chicken and Steak Inn from 1953 to 1985, Holiday Inn 1985 to 1998, and Chicken Inn from 1998 until retiring in 2017. Dale loved to work in his yard and go camping. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021, Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with Minister Brian Ebersold officiating. Interment will be at Patterson Cemetery in Shelby County. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelbyville-Shelby County Animal Shelter, 705 Hale Road, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
