David J. Lux DDS, 89, of Shelbyville, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.
He was born on August 9, 1937, in Shelbyville, the son of Maurice and Martha (Sanders) Lux. On September 5, 1959, he married his wife of 67 years, Rosamond A. Clark, and she survives.
In addition to Rosamond, David is survived by his sons, Thomas Lux and wife, Joy, and Joseph Lux and wife, Robin, both of Shelbyville; daughter, Brenda Servies and husband, David, of Westfield; sisters, Mary Kay Hart of Shelbyville, Diane Wagers of Richmond, Sally Stone of Beverly Hills, California; grandchildren, Alyssa Hubbard and husband, Luke, Adam Servies, Bradley Servies and wife, Ellen; Eric Lux and wife, Katie, LeAnn Hendershot and husband, Evan, Katie Lux and Hannah Lux; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jan Quigley; brother, Jack Lux, and twin baby brothers.
David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1962 to 1964
In 1955, David graduated from Shelbyville High School. He attended Notre Dame and graduated from Indiana University Dental School in 1962. David was a dentist for 51 years, retiring in 2013.
David was a devout and faithful member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was also a member of the American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association and the Indianapolis District Dental Society.
David enjoyed going golfing, gardening and all sports.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Thursday, September 24, 2026 and from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, Friday, September 25, 2026 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville. The rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm, Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 pm, Friday, September 25, 2026, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
