Doris Jean "Dory" Pike

Doris Jean “Dory” Pike, 91, a lifelong Shelby County resident, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour. She was born July 9, 1926, in Shelby County, the daughter of Noble Grand Rairdon and Gladys Marie (Coy) Rairdon Ferrell. She married Robert W. Pike on September 15, 1945, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1997. Dory is survived her sons, Maurice Pike and wife, Patricia, of Frostproof, Florida, Larry Pike and wife, Betty, of Seymour, Norman Pike and wife, Rhonda, of Denim Springs, Louisiana, Cecil Pike of Walker, Louisiana and Randall Pike of Indiana; daughters, Judy Eberhart and husband, Marvin, of Shelbyville, Pamela Smith and husband, Cliff, of Waldron and Kathy Villa and husband, Rudy, of Seymour; brother, Charles Rairdon and wife, Ruth, of Shelbyville; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; several beloved nieces and nephews; special friends, Sue Ray of Shelbyville and Vicki Rice of Greenfield. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dale Rairdon and Edward Rairdon; sisters, Mildred Lucille Trisler and Betty Smithey. Dory was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Dory enjoyed cooking, camping and spending time with family and friends. She was also a member of the Norristown Eastern Lodge, Eagles Lodge and over 37 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Bryan Trotter officiating. Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Indiana Chapter, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240, Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 4449 S.
