Doris Rae Caudill

Doris Rae Caudill, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, November 07, 2017 at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville. She was born September 16, 1934, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the daughter of Jesse and Hettie Eldridge. Doris is survived by her sons, Darrell Caudill and wife, Diana, of St. Paul, and Jim Caudill and wife, Deanne, of Shirley; daughters, Carolyn Merrick, Lorie Stephens and husband, Jim, Teresa Caudill, and Beth Shirels and husband, Tracy, all of Shelbyville; and Irene Hobbs and husband, Charlie, of Westport; sister, Kay Shell and husband, Jimmy, of Viper, Kentucky; brothers, Jesse Eldridge Jr. and wife, Dennie, of Hindman, Kentucky, and William Ray Eldridge and wife, Zelma, of High Point, North Carolina; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debbie McFarland; sisters, Ida Mae Caudill, Cleda Profitt, Helen Eldridge and Wanda Sneed; and brother, John L. Eldridge. Doris was a waitress at the Chaparral Café for over 20 years, and later worked at Williams Industries. She enjoyed raising chickens, playing bingo and gardening. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the funeral home, with Jim Stephens officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
