It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mother Dorothy J. Sprague, affectionately known to everyone as “GG”. She left us peacefully at the age of 94 on Wednesday, October 28th at 1:20 am.

Born in Kentucky Dorothy spent most of her life in Columbus, Indiana. In her earlier years Dorothy loved to garden and can her homegrown vegetables and was a wonderful cook. Her other hobbies included water skiing and bowling.

In later years she loved to challenge herself with puzzles and word games on her iPad.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Shirley McCormick (Jim), James Sprague (Thresa) and Cathy Perrry (David). She was a proud grandmother blessed with a large family that includes many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Dorothy was reunited with her beloved husband, Albert E. Sprague who passed away in 2008. She was also proceeded in death by her two sons Gary L. Sprague and Steven D. Sprague as well as other beloved family members who went before her.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the caregivers and comfort teams who provided such peaceful and compassionate support during her final days.

Graveside services will be held at Mt. Auburn Cemetery on Monday November 2nd at 11 am.

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
