Dr. Roland B. Wilson, Jr.

Dr. Roland B. Wilson, Jr., 67, of Indianapolis, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022, at his home. He was born March 24, 1954, in Darmstadt, Germany, the son of Dr. Roland B. Sr. and Freeda (Brodus) Wilson. On February 13, 2011, he married Darlene B. Steinhauer, and she survives. In addition to Darlene, Roland is survived by his daughters, Darci Wilson and life partner, Michael Hiles, of Anderson, and Hannah Wilson of Hartsell, Alabama; sons, Roland B. “Robee” Wilson III and wife, Bryttany, of Anderson, Ryland Wilson and wife, Rebekah, of Perry, Alabama, Raymond Wilson and significant other, Paige Barnes, of Fort Wayne, Gregory Ellington and wife, Sarah, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Adrian Ellington and significant other, Jessica Patton, of Fishers; grandchildren, Daria Hiles, Jubilee Wilson, Eden Wilson, Talitha Wilson, Ryland Wilson II, Paxsten Wilson, Tessa Wilson, Thordia Wilson, Nathan Wilson, Rayna Wilson, Sandran Wilson, Avrianha Wilson, Isaiah Wilson, Elijah Wilson, Izabella Wilson, Zaydon Wilson, Abigail Ellington and Colton Ellington; and niece, Tennille (Barrett) Aiken of New Jersey. He also leaves behind his dog, Luke. Roland was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Rosalind Barrett. He graduated in 1972 from Southside High School in Fort Wayne. He continued his education at Ball State University and received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College School of Medicine in 1981. Roland was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. He was an anesthesiologist at Major Hospital for five years, retiring in 2011. Prior to which he was a traveling anesthesiologist with Locum Tenens, traveling to various hospitals. Roland enjoyed cycling, reading and writing. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 3718 East Blue Ridge Road, in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Rev. Dr. Robb Barlow officiating. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S.
