Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Wisker Fallis

Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Wisker Fallis, 75, of Shelbyville, passed away on January 11, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rushville. She was born January 31, 1944 in Shelbyville, the daughter of James Herbert “Herb” and Elizabeth Justine (Piper) Wisker. Liz is survived by her sons, James Fallis and wife, Sylinda, of Rushville, Thomas Fallis and wife, Stacia, of Waldron. Also surviving is her granddaughter, Whitley D. Fallis. She was preceded in death by her parents and numerous family members. Liz graduated in 1962 from Shelbyville High School. She then went on to graduate from Butler University in 1966 and became the first woman with an accounting degree; GE financial management program (MBA equivalent). Elizabeth was active in Butler alumni activities including homecoming and the college of music. Liz was a big Butler University fan and supporter, just in case, you weren’t aware!! She was a three term president of the Clowes Memorial Hall Women’s Committee. She was a member of the Ovid Butler Society and loved to watch Butler basketball and cheer on the team. She served almost 20 years as adjunct professor of accounting and business at Ivy Tech Community College and IUPUI. She was the recipient of the Gerald L. Phillipe award in recognition of the General Electric Foundation for Public Service. Liz was an officer of the Indianapolis Chapter, Institute of Management Accounts (IMA); served on the board of directors for (IMA) Lincoln Trails Regional Council. She was a two term president of the Indianapolis Council of Women. Liz was a past member of the Shelbyville Rotary Club and she was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. She held various fund raising positions with numerous organizations. Liz was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a devoted member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was the treasurer of the Elizabella Trust of Daughters of Isabella and a past State Regent (2013-2015) of Daughters of Isabella. She also was a member and the secretary of the St. Joe Social Club. She was known for her prize winning baking and was a 60-year open class and a 10-year 4-H member. She was known as an excellent cook by her family and friends. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2020 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville, with Father Mike Kuecher officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Daughters of Isabella, Elizabella Trust, 125 E. Broadway St. Shelbyville, Indiana 46176 or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 17th St., Columbus, Indiana 47201.
