Erin Layne Reese Owens

Erin Layne Reese Owens, 36, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 in Shelbyville. She was born June 28, 1982, in Beech Grove, the daughter of Jerry and Sharon (Keller) Reese. On February 14, 2004, she married William “Bill” Owens, and he survives. In addition to Bill, Erin is survived by her parents of Shelbyville; daughters, Lily Owens and Olivia “Mae” Owens, both of Shelbyville; sons, Josiah “Joe” Owens and Jackson “Reese” Owens, both of Shelbyville; maternal grandmother, Doris Harris of Shelbyville; and mother-in-law, Jackie Owens and husband, Ron Scales, of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Jennifer Paulson and husband, David, of Indianapolis; brother-in-law, James Beatty of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews. Erin was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Rick Harris; and paternal grandfather, John A. Reese. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 2000. Erin was employed at Especially Kidz for over 10 years, where she was a CNA, QMA and recently been promoted to an activities director. She enjoyed taking care of people, especially her kids at work. She also enjoyed gardening, swimming and crafts. Erin loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Robb Barlow officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
