Evie Mae Goodpasture, 85, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at Morristown Manor in Morristown. She was born November 3, 1933, in Iron City, Tennessee, the daughter of George Washington and Evie Lena (Short) Bailey. Evie is survived by her daughters, Karen Li of Wildomar, California, and Regina Wessic and husband, John, of Shelbyville; son, Jonathan Goodpasture and wife, Delmy Bonilla, of Indianapolis; sister, Betty Cornacchini and husband, Ron, of Merced, California; sister-in-law, Bonnie Bailey of Loretto, Tennessee; grandchildren, Crystal DeCoudres and husband, Chris, Amanda Rogers and husband, Brian, Ryan Li, Rachel Crisman and husband, Zach, John Mark Wessic Jr. and wife, Rachel, Benjamin Wessic, Sofia Mae Goodpasture and Luna Faith Goodpasture; great-grandchildren, Andrew DeCoudres, Joey Rogers, Johnny Rogers, Ryan Crisman, Luke Crisman, Paisley Crisman, Olivia Wessic and Emmett Wessic; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Evie was preceded in death by sisters, Mitzi Bailey, Bonnie Bailey and Margie Smith; and brothers, Bill Bailey, George Bailey Jr., Acie Bailey, Marvin “Bunk” Bailey, Rev. James Bailey and Frank Bailey. Evie was a Pastor’s wife for almost 40 years, and had lived in Tennessee, Iowa, Kentucky and Indiana. Evie attended school in Leoma, Tennessee. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Evie formerly worked at Western Electric and was an in home caregiver for several years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, working puzzles and sewing. Evie never met a stranger. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2019 and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2019 at the funeral home, with Rev. J.D. Bailey and the Rev. Dr. Steve Bohall officiating. Interment will be at Leatherwood Cemetery in Bedford at 3 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Nazarene, 2315 S. Riley Highway, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
