Gary Steven Persinger

Gary Steven Persinger, 59, of New Whiteland, formerly of Shelby County, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at his residence. He was born December 13, 1957, in Shelby County, the son of David and Beverly (Hurt) Persinger. On October 4, 1980, he married his wife of 37 years, Kimberly Murray, and she survives. Gary is also survived by his father, David Persinger and wife, Connie, of Fairland; daughter, Megan Persinger and fiance’ Ryan Bruce, of Martinsville; sisters, Judy Pugh and husband, Ron, of Zionsville, and Lori Thomas and husband, Todd, of Pleasant View; brother, Greg Persinger of Southport; grandson, Jack Hunter Bruce; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. Gary graduated from Triton Central High School in 1976. He was employed as a plumber for Earl Gray and Sons, and JTP, retiring in 2016. Gary enjoyed watching Indiana sports, especially Indiana University basketball and Indianapolis Colts football. He also enjoyed fishing and making birdhouses and other woodworking projects. Gary also leaves behind his dog, Piper, and cat, Scout. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Boggstown Cemetery in Shelby County. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelbyville-Shelby County Animal Shelter, 705 Hale Road, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
