Geneva G. Cooper

Geneva G. Cooper, 95, of Fairland passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, at her home. She was born December 18, 1925, in Garrison, Kentucky, the daughter of Andrew and Phoebe (Tackett) Collins. On December 22, 1945, she married her husband of 61 ½ years, Charles N. Cooper, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2007. Geneva is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Sue Cooper of Fairland; son, Brian N. Cooper and wife, Patty, of Greenfield; granddaughter, Danielle Cooper Lenglade and husband, Chad, of Greenfield; grandson, Patrick N. Cooper and wife, Ericka, of Greenfield; great-granddaughters, Jo Ann Cooper and Paige Nicole Cooper, both of Greenfield; son-in-law, David Allen of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to Charles, Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Edith Faye Allen; and brothers, Everett Vanhoose, Elmer Collins and Ishmael Collins. Geneva was an active member of the Fairland Christian Church for 59 ½ years, where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for over 30 years. She was also active in the Ladies Fellowship. She retired from the Triton Central High School cafeteria with 18 years of service, working from 1967 to 1986. Geneva enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, gardening and playing double bid euchre. She loved her family and her church family and enjoyed the time she spent with them. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2021, at the funeral home, with Rev. Les Beardon officiating. Interment will be at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines requiring a mask and social distancing will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to CTN Ministries, PO Box 1092, Joplin, MO 64801.
