George A. Brunner, 72, of Shelbyville, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at his home.
Born March 7, 1933, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Emmerson J. and Ruth (Nave) Brunner. He married Barbara Horst on Nov. 24, 1994, and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, J. Scott (wife, Jaye) Brunner of Shelbyville and Philip (wife, Georgia) Brunner of Indianapolis; three daughters, Gwen (husband, John) Cord of Columbus, Jean (husband, Lamar) Reinhart of West Lafayette and Diane (husband, Mark) Becken of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Barbara Washburn of West Lafayette; one father-in-law, Benjamin Horst of Noblesville; one cousin, Irene Brunner of Shelbyville; and eight grandchildren, Adam Cord, Erin Cord, Abbi Cord, Nicholas Brunner, Ali Brunner, Andrea Reinhart, Kate Brunner and Madyson Brunner.
Mr. Brunner was a 1951 graduate of Shelbyville High School. He also attended Purdue University.
He owned and operated BC Commercial Real Estate and Auction with former partner Ed Cockerham. Prior to that, he had been a farmer for many years.
Mr. Brunner was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He had been a member of First Presbyterian Church, Shelbyville Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and had been a member and past president of the Lions Club. He was an avid private pilot.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Funeral Home, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 124 W. Broadway St., with the Rev. Gary Huffman officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by local service organizations.
