Gordon Francis "Butch" Gant Jr.

Gordon Francis “Butch” Gant, Jr., 79, of Morristown, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.

He was born on January 27, 1947, in Butler, Pennsylvania, the son of Gordon Francis Gant Sr. and Helen Etta (Harrison) Arner. On August 30, 1975, he married his wife of 50 years, Christy Lynn Mottle, and she survives.

In addition to Christy, Butch is survived by his sons, Jeremy Gant and wife, Amie, of Morristown, Wolfgang Gant and wife, Stephanie, of Greensburg, and Adam Benjamin Gant of Rushville; brother, Dan Gant and wife, Kathy, of Millersburg, Ohio; sister, Melanie Humrichouser and husband, Mike, of Glenmont, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew Gant and wife, Lillian, Justin Gant and wife, Cozette, Parrish Gant and fiancé, Ashton Wilson, Peyton Gant and wife, Jessy, and Jonathan Speaks; twin great-granddaughters, Harper Wilson and Lainey Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents; and great-grandson, Marty Gant.

He was a veteran of the US Army, completing two tours in Vietnam, and retiring with 22 years of service to his country.

Butch enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, boating and watching old westerns.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
