Gregory Gray “Greg” Kaster, 73, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.
He was born October 25, 1946, in Shelby County, the son of Carl William and Lenora Mae (Batton) Kaster. On June 22, 1968, he married his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou DeMoss, and she survives.
In addition to Mary, Greg is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Anne Kelley and husband, Curtis, of Shelbyville, and Kimberly Kaye Ballman and husband, Eric, of Shanghai, China; brother, Kent Kaster and wife, Susan, of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Morgan Scott and husband, Trevor, Noah Kelley, Faith Kelley, Daniel Kelley and Logan Ballman; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ken Kaster.
Greg graduated in 1963 from Triton Central High School, and ROTC from Purdue University with a bachelors degree in business administration.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Greg, Bruce Carlton and Steve Howard owned and operated Fairland Oil Co. and F.O.C. Heating and Cooling for over 30 years, until retiring earlier this year.
He was a member of Shelbyville Community Church, where he served as a door greeter, assisted with small groups and helped with the funeral ministry.
Greg enjoyed watching sports, especially when his grandchildren were participating. He also enjoyed going for walks.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2019 at Shelbyville Community Church, 720 N 325 E, Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with Pastors Brad Davis and Merry Popplewell officiating.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
