Halcia K. Martin, 74, of Connersville, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville. She was born February 9, 1944, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Paul Clinton and Theresa Katheryn (Roberts) Cox. On January 15, 1967, she married Todd A. Martin, and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2014. Halcia is survived by her son, Paul Joseph Martin, and wife, Nicole, of Connersville; and grandchildren, Logan, Cole, Kendall and Kaelynn. In addition to Todd, Halcia was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Paul Cox. Halcia graduated from Waldron High School in 1962, and received her Master’s degree in elementary education from Indiana State University. She was a member of Waldron Baptist Church and the local and state of American Baptist Women. Halcia was also a member of The Gideons International Auxiliary. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville. Funeral services 11 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Van Pelt Cemetery in Shelby County. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, Tennessee 37214-0800.
