Jackie Lee (Jack) Adams, 88, of Fairland passed away Friday, June 14, 2019 at his residence.
He was born February 12, 1931, in Brodhead, Kentucky, the son of Alfred and Bertha (Moore) Adams. On November 8, 1952, he married Wilma Jane Coulter, and she preceded him in death on March 18, 2015.
Jack is survived by his daughters Tina Geyer of Indianapolis, Sherry Neely and husband Bryan of Knox, and Sheila Sego of Indianapolis; brothers, Ronnie Adams and Butch Adams; sister Caroline McKinney; grandchildren Holly Gibson, April Allen, Kristina Gibson, John Gibson, Glynn Geyer, Hannah Sego and Daniel Sego; and great-grandchildren Colten Corley, Brooks Allen, Ethan Allen, and Brailynn Gibson.
In addition to his wonderful wife Wilma, Jack was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters.
Jack joined the U.S. Airforce in 1950. Shortly thereafter, he won a trip to Mt. Rushmore where he won 2nd place in a marksman competition for the armed forces. Jack was ultimately stationed in Morocco, and was honorably discharged as an Airman 1st Class in 1954. He then went on to a 40-year career with International Harvester (later Navistar), UAW Local 98.
A 1994 graduate of Triton Central High School, after retirement, Jack went on to become a trained locksmith, was an amateur statistician, and played in the Shepherd Brothers Band. He discovered running later in life and completed in several marathons, routinely beating runners half his age.
He was a member of Fairland Christian Church, and enjoyed playing music for "the old people" at various nursing homes, nevermind that he was generally older than most of the people in the audience.
Jack took great pride in keeping a good yard, and died on a perfect, Friday afternoon tending that fantastic yard. He loved his family and his God. He celebrated his descendants living up to their full potential. His lone regret was not having been a professional poker player.
