James "Brett" Poe

James “Brett” Poe, 61, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, formerly of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Greenview Tri-Star Hospital in Bowling Green. He was born December 6, 1958, in Shelbyville, the son of Joyce H. and Miriam J. (Tucker) Poe. On September 3, 1988, he married Angela Metzger, and she survives. In addition to Angela, Brett is survived by his son, A. J. Poe of Fort Myers, Florida; daughter, Kaylyn Poe of Indianapolis; brother, Steven Poe of Franklin; grandchildren, Hayden and Liam; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Phillip Poe; and sister, Joycelyn Huckaby. Brett graduated in 1977 from Shelbyville High School, received his bachelors degree from Purdue University in management, and obtained his masters degree from Eastern Michigan University in business administration. He was a quality manufacturing engineer manager at Delta Faucet for 24 years, retiring in August of 2019. Brett enjoyed family activities, going camping and watching NFL and college football. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
