James Edward “Jim” Nolley, Jr., 76, of Shelbyville, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at his home.
He was born on June 27, 1950, the son of James E. Sr. and Patricia (Brokering) Nolley. In November of 1991, he married Cheryl Knoebel, and she survives.
In addition to Cheryl, Jim is survived by his children, Sean Nolley of Shelbyville, Scott A. Nolley and wife, Katie, of Morristown, and Kristen Pate and husband, Ron, of Greenwood; grandchildren, T.J. Nolley, Jalen Nolley, Keaton Nolley, Kendyl Nolley, Jackson Nolley and Joy Muhlhauser; and great-grandchildren, Brooks, Lakelyn and Marina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Rosemary “Billie” Nolley; and sister, Linda Nolley.
In 1969, Jim graduated from Triton Central High School. He continued his education at Indiana Barber College and in 1970, received his barber and barber instructor licenses. He owned and operated Jim’s Barber Shop, until he retired 50 years and two weeks later. Jim also graduated from the Nazarene Bible College in 1988, and pastored at several Nazarene Churches.
He enjoyed going antiquing. Jim was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts. He also enjoyed Indiana University basketball and was a Bobby Knight fan. The time spent with his family was very dear to Jim, he especially loved Christmas gatherings, and making certain everyone received a gift.
Visitation will be from 10 to Noon, Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville. Funeral services will follow.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.
