Janet Dianne (Miller) Robinson, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
She was born December 5, 1937, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Carlos Harold Miller and Evelyn Mae (Wells) Craig. On September 18, 1955, she married Dwain Gail Robinson, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1999.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Ryhal and husband, Greg, of Shelbyville; sons, Chris Robinson and wife, Kelly, Jonathan Robinson and wife, Laura, and Heath Robinson and wife, Rebecca, all of Shelby County; grandchildren, Greg Ryhal, Chris Ryhal and wife, Brandi, Whitney Thomas and husband, Devin, Devon Robinson, Timber Browning and husband, Noah, Matthew Wuensch, James Robinson and wife, Amber, Jeremiah Robinson and wife, Kayla, Cassandra Nicholson and husband, Adam, Madline Robinson and Lilya Robinson; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to Dwain, Janet was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Carroll Craig; and great-grandchildren, Ariel and Cooper Robinson-Nicholson.
Janet graduated from Shelbyville High School.
She was a very active member of the Zion Evangelical Church, since 1950. Janet was a Sunday school teacher for over 25 years. She was a member of the Women’s Guild, where she served on various committees and helped prepare many funeral dinners. Above all, Janet was a devout Christian and taught her children the importance of living a life dedicated to Christ.
Janet kept an immaculate home. She loved to sew, often making clothes with patterns she made herself, for her and her daughter, Debbie. Janet was a wonderful cook, and loved to tend to her flower gardens in the evening. She cooked many meals for the farm hands, while also putting delicious meals on the table for her family. Janet was an exceptional mother and enjoyed creating lasting memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also a member of Country Pals Home Economics Club, Homemaker Social Studies Club and several card clubs.
Janet was very talented and created beautiful ceramic pieces. She also had sold Tupperware and 5th Avenue Jewelry in the past.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am, Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Zion Evangelical Church, 7025 E 100 N, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
Funeral services will follow at 11 am Saturday, at the church, with Pastors Nick Coulston and Ryan Hicks officiating.
Interment will be at Zion Cemetery in Shelby County.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
