Jason Charles Chenoweth, 50, of Shelbyville, passed away at his home on
Thursday, November 25, 2021.
He was born January 28, 1971, in Covington, Virginia, the son of Charles H.
and Ailene (Schoonover) Chenoweth. On July 31, 1993, he married the love
of his life, Jill Angela Weddle, and she survives.
In addition to Jill, Jason is survived by his mother of Shelbyville;
daughters, Alivia Chenoweth and Annie Chenoweth, both of Shelbyville;
brother, Eddie Cook of Virginia; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mel and
Betty Weddle, of Greenfield; brother-in-law, Nathan Weddle and wife, Peggy,
of Carmel; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Jason graduated in 1989 from Alleghany High School in Covington, Virginia,
he received his bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty
University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Jason obtained his Master of Divinity
degree from Bethel Seminary in Minnesota.
He was a member of and pastored at Shelbyville Community Church for 18
years. Jason was also the CEO of Outreach for 2 years, a ministry for
homeless youth in Indianapolis.
He was an Eagle Scout.
Jason enjoyed cycling of all kinds, traveling, reading, hiking, and
spending time with his family. Some of the greatest memories of him can be
brought back to mentoring and spending time with the students in his youth
ministry, as it was something that brought joy to his life.
A Celebration of Jason’s life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021,
at the Shelbyville Community Church, 720 N 325 E, Shelbyville. Friends may
gather one-half hour prior to the celebration.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory,
819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
