Jeannine Betty Bateman

July 9, 1930 — April 3, 2020

Jeannine Betty Bateman, 89, of Morristown passed away Friday, April 3, 2020 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. She was born July 9, 1930, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Harmon Sidney and Carol Fern (Shank) Boles. On November 18, 1950, she married James N. Bateman Jr., and he preceded her in death on October 8, 1995. Jeannine is survived by her daughters, Elaine A. Wilhelm and husband, Jerry, of Morristown, and Donna L. Reed and husband, Randall, of Arlington; son, James Harmon Bateman and wife, Renata, of Schaumburg, Illinois; grandchildren, Michael Wilhelm, Amy Stansberry and husband, Kyle, Michele Harroll and husband, Michael, and Heather Linville and husband, Luther; and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to James, Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joseph A. Bateman; and brother, Nolan F. Boles. Jeannine graduated from Tech High School in 1948 and attended college for two years. She was a member of the Morristown Christian Church. Jeannine retired in 1987, as a computer supervisor for Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance Center. She was also a member of the Symra Guild Shrine, Morristown American Legion Auxiliary, NARF Organization and a 50-year member of the Morristown Order of Eastern Star Lodge No. 316. Jeannine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, crossword puzzles and watching birds. No services will be observed at this time, a Celebration of Jeannine’s life will be held at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Naamah Order of Eastern Star Lodge No. 73, 519 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176 or Morristown American Legion, 339 W. Main St., Morristown, Indiana 46161.
