Jerry R. Davis, 79, of Waldron, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, at IU Health Methodist Hospital.
He was born on March 26, 1947 in Berlin, Germany, the son of Eldon and Vera Davis.
Jerry is survived by his nieces, Brandy Jenkins and husband, Robert of Fortville and Brooke Davis of Manilla; Great Nephews, Austin Nicholson and girlfriend Taylor, Clayton Jenkins, Brandon Jenkins and girlfriend Maggie, Ashton Wampler and Jayce Wampler; Great Niece, Grace Jenkins; and Great Great Nieces Anabel, Ariella and Olivia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael Davis.
Jerry graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1965. He attended Florida State University receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology.
He worked for the United States Geological Survey, retiring in 2005.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, including serving overseas in London, England.
He was an avid model train collector, enjoyed many years of sailing on Eagle Creek Reservoir, cycling, tennis and was a member of the Shelby County Athletic Club and Shelby County YMCA, attending group classes several times a week until his final days.
Private family services will be held.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Shelby County Y.M.C.A. 2120 Intelliplex Drive, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
