Joan (Kocher) Hogan

Joan (Kocher) Hogan, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, September 12, 2022, at Heritage House in Shelbyville.

She was born January 17, 1932, in Morristown, the daughter of Dennis and Agnes (Presley) Kocher. On December 31, 1951, she married her husband, Marion J. Hogan, and he preceded her in death on September 13, 1989.

Joan is survived by her son, David L. Hogan and wife, Trudy (Sigman), of Shelbyville; sisters, Dorothy Hewitt of Waldron, Janice Linville and husband, Larry, of Greenfield, and Rita Zimmerman of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jackie Hogan and husband, Randy Zell, Marie Diane Persinger and husband, Caynan, Kyle Hogan and wife, Kate, and Brian Hogan and wife, Olivia; great-grandchildren, Paul Moscrip, Noah Persinger, Timothy Persinger, Chloe Zell, Austin Zell and Alyssa Zell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to Marion, Joan was preceded in death by her son, Michael L. Hogan; daughters, Donna L. Hogan and Faye A. Haggard; sisters, Helen Morton, Ruth Ordonez, Francis Wilson and Mary Kocher; and brothers, John Kocher and Irvin Kocher.

Joan graduated in 1950 from Greenfield High School.

She was a member of Town and Country Christian Church.

Joan formerly worked for the Shelbyville News, as a paper carrier, for over 20 years.

She was formerly a member of Naamah Chapter of Eastern Star.

Joan enjoyed working word search puzzles, reading and later listening to Western Novels.

She loved her family and cherished the memories they created.

Joan liked to go for walks and visit with her neighbors.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2022, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
