John Dale Simpson

John Dale Simpson, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.

He was born December 8, 1929, in Shelbyville, the son of Martin D. and Fannie F. (Tuttle) Simpson. 

John loved his family and is survived by three sons, Mike Simpson of Tampa, Florida, Timothy Simpson and wife, Kathleen, and Todd Simpson and wife, Peggy, both of Shelbyville; three grandsons, Jes Simpson and wife, Kristen, Derek Simpson and wife, Haley, and Clayton Simpson and wife, Stephanie; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In 1948, John graduated from Shelbyville High School.

He was a Civil Service Technician, retiring in December of 1989 from the National Guard.

John was a life member of the National Guard Association.

He was an avid photographer, he took pictures while in the National Guard, as well as, while traveling the country.  John truly enjoyed riding his motorcycle on many trips, including cruising to Alaska.

John had a love of food and enjoyed cooking.

He loved animals, especially dogs and cats.

Services were entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
