June R. Coomer, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at The Willows of Shelbyville.
She was born on June 4, 1935, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Roy Nail and June Nail Conger.
On December 31, 1964, June married Randall R. Coomer, and he preceded her in death on August 18, 2010.
June is survived by her grandson, Shawn Mummert and wife, Melissa, of Shelbyville; great-grandchildren, Addison Mummert, Taige Mummert and Ava Mummert; brother-in-law, Richard Finke; nieces, Brooke Case and Kelly Thayer; and nephew, Craig Finke.
In addition to Randall, June was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Beth Mummert and Lisa Kay Cates; sisters, Geraldine Nail and Jacquelyn Finke; and nephew, Bryan Finke.
June was a member of the Blue Ridge Christian Union Church.
She was a co-owner of a ceramic business, Mud Magic. She made beautiful pieces of ceramic art and also enjoyed China painting. June won numerous ribbons at the Shelby County Fair.
June had formerly helped individuals with in-home care.
It was very special to June, that her grandchildren had been given a scholarship in memory of Lisa K. Cates since 1987.
Randall and June were known for their Christmas light displays, with over 10,000 lights. It made her very proud, when their display was featured in an article in the Indianapolis Star.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am, Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will follow, with Pastor Dennis Hirschauer officiating.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lisa K. Cates Scholarship Fund, in care of, the Blue River Community Foundation, 54 W. Broadway, Suite 1, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
