Katherine L. Tresslar

Katherine L. Tresslar, 94, of Fairland, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Bickford of Greenwood.

She was born on September 5, 1932, in Indianapolis, the daughter of John Wesley and Mary Esther (Frost) Benson. On October 14, 1950, she married her husband of nearly 76 years, John R. Tresslar, and he survives.

In addition to John, Katherine is survived by her sons, Marcus Tresslar of Fairland, and Kim Tresslar of Needham; sister, Ruby June Spaulding of Indianapolis; brother, John Wesley Benson of Tecumseh, Michigan; grandchildren, Eric Tresslar of Fairland, and Michelle Robey of Needham; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan Tresslar; daughter-in-law, Roberta Sue Tresslar; sister, Mary Jane Reed; and brothers, William Benson and Richard Benson.

In 1950, she graduated from Waldron High School.

Katherine was a member of the Boggstown Presbyterian Church, where she was active in Ladies Aide.

She enjoyed volunteering at Especially Kidz for over 20 years. Katherine also enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a wonderful cook.

Graveside services will be held 11 am, Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown. A gathering of friends will follow at the Boggstown Presbyterian Church.

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
