Kathryn L. "Kathy" Thornburg

Kathryn L. “Kathy” Thornburg, 80, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at Walker Place in Shelbyville. She was born April 10, 1938, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Urban and Margaret (VanArsdall) Wisker. On March 3, 1956, she married Kenneth Thornburg, and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2002. Kathy is survived by her daughters, Karen Kolls and husband, Jeff, and Kim Wickizer and husband, Eric, both of Shelbyville; son, Michael Thornburg and wife, Lisa, of Shelbyville; sisters, Jane Jerman and husband, Carter, of Indianapolis, Rose McNeely and husband, Lee, and Mary Reed and husband, John, both of Shelbyville; brother, George Wisker and wife, Joyce, of Carmel; grandchildren, Amy Piper and husband, Clark, Keith R. Wickizer and wife, Jessica, Susan Lockridge and husband, Luke, Brian Kolls and wife, Abby, Kate Olds and husband, Rex, William Thornburg and Meghan Thornburg; and great-grandchildren, Bennett Piper, Molly Piper, Zachary Wickizer, Abigail Baker, Kenneth Wickizer, Max Lockridge, Hank Lockridge, Olivia Kolls, Mason Olds and Cody Olds; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to Kenneth, Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice Mohr; and brother, Anthony Wisker. Kathy graduated from Waldron High School in 1956. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Kathy was the office manager at REMC for over 30 years, retiring in 2001. She was also a member of Daughters of Isabella, St. Anne’s Altar Society, Business and Professional Women, and Psi Iota Xi Sorority. Kathy enjoyed working puzzles, mowing grass and needlework. She loved her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville, with Father Mike Keucher officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
