Kay L. Brouhard, 66, of Shelbyville, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at her home.
She was born on December 5, 1959, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Eugene and Imogene (Deitzer) Stadtmiller. On July 13, 1985, Kay married her husband of 40 years, Robert E. “Bob” Brouhard, and he survives.
In addition to Bob, Kay is survived by her daughters, Mindy Huesman and husband, Devin, of New Palestine, and Melissa Flueckiger and husband, Eric, of Bargersville; sisters, Annette Mullen and husband, Bob, Judy Barbee, and Rita Sturgill and husband, Eddie, all of Shelbyville; brother, John Stadtmiller and wife, Kathy, of Angola; grandchildren, Madison, Megan and William; and several nieces and nephews.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Michael Barbee.
In 1977, Kay graduated from Shelbyville High School. She received her bachelors degree in retail management from Purdue University.
Kay was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
She was a teachers aide for 30 years at Saint Joseph Catholic School. She also formerly worked as a merchandiser for JCPenney for five years, following college.
Kay was also a 43-year member of Kappa Delta Phi Sorority Psi Iota Chapter.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the Rosary recited at 3:30 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am. Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, in Shelbyville.
Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Joseph Scholarship Program, 127 E. Broadway St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
