Laurie Skirvin

Laurie Skirvin, 56, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, June 25, 2017, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville. She was born on February 13, 1961, in Spokane, Washington, the daughter of Lewis and Judy Armstrong. On July 19, 2007, she married her husband of nine years, Robert “Chris” Skirvin. Laurie is survived by Chris; daughter, Ashley Sanford of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Cory, Caleb and Curtis Ballard; mother, Judy Armstrong of Fishers; sister, Karen Armstrong of McCordsville; brother, Ken Armstrong of Seattle; and nephew, Aaron Armstrong of Fishers. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Hannah. Laurie grew up in Washington, Ohio, France, Germany and Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she loved riding horses and taking hikes across Baylor Pass in the Organ Mountains. She worked at McDonald’s in Shelbyville, where she was about to receive her 10-year pin. Laurie graduated from Carmel High School, class of 1979. Laurie liked to decorate (she was forever moving furniture around), do difficult puzzles, and spend time with her husband, daughter and grandkids, and her cat, Sweets. A gathering of friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
