Lela Louise Johnson

Lela Louise Johnson, 75, of Rushville, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at Greenfield Healthcare Center in Greenfield. She was born October 27, 1942, in Menard County, Illinois, the daughter of Coy and Lela K. (Polley) Raikes. On August 16, 1969, she married Gerald Richard Johnson, and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2015. Lela is survived by her sons, Jesse C. “J.C.” Johnson and wife, Andrea, of Greenfield, and Bryan E. Johnson and wife, Angie, of Rushville; brother, Harold Raikes and wife, Glenda, of New Palestine; sister Donna Kinman and husband, Mike, of Buena Vista; and step-granddaughter, Kelcie Wright. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Lela graduated from Morristown High School in 1960. She was a member of the Fountaintown Christian Church and enjoyed sewing with the Comfort Makers. Lela loved to spend time with her family and attending family reunions. She also enjoyed crocheting and listening to old hymns. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the funeral home, with Mike Smith officiating. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
