Letty L. Branam

Letty Lane (Lawrence) Branam, 88, of Elyria, Ohio, formerly of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at her son's residence in Elyria. Born December 1, 1923, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Ernest and Lora (McKinney) Lawrence. She married Frank Branam in 1942, and she preceded her in death in 1992. Survivors include her sons, Keith (wife, Dawn) Branam of Shelbyville and Kim (wife, Karen) Branam of Elyria, Ohio; grandchildren, Tara Branam (husband, Jeff Kieninger), Ashlee (husband, Douglas) Walker, Jade Branam, Corey (wife, Melissa) Branam, Kelly Branam, Kimberly (husband, Jeremy) Smuda, Kristi (husband, John) Kosir and Kasey Branam; great-grandchildren, Kaden Branam, Kali Kieninger, Alexis Kieninger, Austin Kieninger, Madison Branam, Adilyn Walker, Jameson Smuda and Sarah Kosir; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jack Lawrence and Dick Lawrence; and a sister, Connie Abell. Mrs. Branam had resided in Shelbyville for most of her life and graduated from Shelbyville High School 1941. She retired as executive secretary and manager of administrative services of KCL Corp. in 1985, after 25 years of service. After retiring, she moved to Las Vegas, Nev., and worked for the Las Vegas Police Department until returning to Shelbyville in 1990, where she worked part time for Dr. James Rees. In March of 2011, she went to live with her son in Ohio. Mrs. Branam was a member of Shelbyville's Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge and American Legion Auxiliary. Her former memberships include Business and Professional Women, Shelby Art Council, SCARC and Beta Chapter of Rho Delta Sorority. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed playing Bingo. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 N.
