Marc A. Massey, 56, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born April 2, 1962, in Indianapolis, the son of James and Margaret (Brown) Massey. He married Mary Jones on January 20, 2001, and she survives. Marc is also survived by his parents of Indianapolis; sons, Michael Massey and wife, Ashley, of Indianapolis, Michael Snepp and wife, Megan, of Johnson County, and Cory Kennedy of Shelbyville; daughter, Maggie Stafford of Shelbyville; and grandson, Jax Christopher Massey. He was preceded in death by his brother, J. Christopher Massey. Marc graduated from Triton Central High School in 1980, and became a master mechanic through Mercury University. Forty years ago, at the age of 16, he began working at the family business, Brownie’s Marine. He was currently the parts and service director. Marc was a member of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and USA Bassin. He helped organize charity fishing tournaments for Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Marc enjoyed fishing and boating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the funeral home, with Todd Hardin officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Shelby County, PO Box 844, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
