Marie M. Pile, 98, of Shelbyville, a lifelong Shelby County resident, passed away Monday, August 22, 2022, at Heritage House in Shelbyville.

She was born July 3, 1924, in Shelby County, the daughter of Ithamer and Pearl (Spencer) DeBaun.  On December 26, 1958, she married Dallas W. Pile, and he preceded her in death on April 4, 1991.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen Julian and Gwendolyn Anne Brown, both of Shelbyville; 11 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to Dallas, Marie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Larry Dale Jackman; sons-in-law, Don Julian and David Brown; sisters, Ada Fromer, Flossie DeBaun and Mary Clayton; brothers, Martin DeBaun and Cecil DeBaun and granddaughter, Robin Cope.

Marie graduated in 1943 from Mount Auburn High School.

She was a member of the Marietta Methodist Church and First Christian Church in Shelbyville.

Marie retired as a secretary for the Department of Agriculture in 1984.

She was a charter member and past president of the Marietta Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.  Marie was also a member of the Ladies Aide Society.

She enjoyed crocheting and traveling with the Blue River Camping Club.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
