Marjorie Mae Smith

Marjorie Mae Smith, 95, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Heritage House of Shelbyville. She was born January 18, 1924, in English, the daughter of John R. and Delsie (Young) Stocklin. She married Marshall Paul Smith on August 7th, 1940, and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2002. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Karen McNamara of Fountaintown; son, Paul Richard “Dick” Smith and wife, Peggy, of Shelbyville; brother, Raymond Stocklin of Greensburg; grandchildren, Christina Herrera, Cynthia Jo Bluhm and husband, Steve, Melanie Bogeman and husband, Tim, and Neil Smith and wife, Susan; nine great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Robin Mathies and husband, Dana, and Wade Minton; three step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to Marshall, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson, Hunter; son-in-law, Delbert McNamara; brothers, Robert, Ralph and Roy; and sisters, Margaret and Mary. Marjorie loved her church and was a devoted member of Fairview United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Church Womens Group. She graduated from Boggstown High School. Marjorie formerly worked at TR Cinch and in the china department of JG DePrez Department Store. She enjoyed working in her yard and cooking. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and family. Visitation will be from at 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2019 and from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Fairview United Methodist Church, 1880W 900N, Fountaintown. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Rev. Colin Cress officiating. Interment will be at Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairview United Methodist Church.
