Marlene Ann Rose, 72, of Shelbyville passed away May 6, 2020, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born March 10, 1948, in Shelby County, the daughter of William B. and Julia Ann (Phillips) Rose.
Marlene is survived by her sisters, Rosetta Melvin and husband, Alan, of Greenwood, and Donna Adkins of Shelbyville; niece, Nora Melvin Schaller and husband, Sam, of Beech Grove; and nephews, Willie Melvin and wife, Danielle, of Greenwood, and Gabriel Melvin of Beech Grove; great-nephews, Lucas Melvin and Liam Melvin; several cousins, dear friends and her church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marlene was a member of the Christian Life Centra, where she was the recipient of a 30-year dedicated member award.
She graduated in 1966 from Southwestern High School.
Marlene worked for the State of Indiana in Workforce Development, for 45 years, retiring in 2011.
She was also a member of St. Joe’s Social Club and Shelby Senior Services.
Marlene enjoyed traveling, going to the theatre, afternoon coffee with her McDonald’s family, playing euchre on her lunch hours and working crossword puzzles.
Private services will be observed.
Interment will be at Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Johnson County.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
