Marna Lynn Sumerford

Marna Lynn Sumerford, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at her home.

She was born April 7, 1943, in Shelbyville, the only daughter of Carlos M. and Louise (Reed) Miller. On January 9, 1966, she married, her husband of nearly 60 years, Wooten “Taylor” Sumerford Jr., and he survives.

In addition to Taylor, Marna is survived by her sons, Scott Taylor Sumerford and wife, Sonya, of Shelbyville, and Andrew Mark Sumerford and wife, Heather, of Flat Rock; and grandchildren, Cassie, Erica, Daniel, Jared and Jenna.

Marna was preceded in death by her parents.

In 1961, Marna graduated from Shelbyville High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society.

She was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church, and also attended First Christian Church and Beacon Baptist Church.

Marna enjoyed crafting and watching movies.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed creating wonderful memories with her family.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Friday, August 15, 2025, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 am, Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
